One batch, different Bundles: how should the stock be allocated?

Set an allocation ratio for the batch first, deciding what percentage goes to each way of selling it, such as singles, 3-packs and 6-packs. Then divide the pieces each one receives by the number of pieces in its Pack Size to get the sellable quantity for each listing.

The same product is often sold as a single item, a set of 3 and a set of 6 at the same time. If stock is entered by hand for each way of selling, every new delivery means adjusting each listing one by one.

What is an allocation ratio?

An allocation ratio divides a batch of stock proportionally between different ways of selling it. For example, if a batch of one product comes in and you want to sell 50% individually, 30% in sets of 3 and 20% in sets of 6, then '50%/30%/20%' is the allocation ratio.

  • Source stock: the batch to be allocated, identified by Barcode
  • Pack Size: how many pieces each way of selling contains, such as a 1-pack, 3-pack or 6-pack
  • Allocation percentage: the share of the stock each Pack Size receives

How do you work it out for 600 pieces of stock?

Say you have 600 pieces of stock and set the allocation ratio to 50% singles, 30% 3-packs and 20% 6-packs:

  • Singles 50% → 300 pieces ÷ 1 = 300 sellable units
  • 3-packs 30% → 180 pieces ÷ 3 = 60 sellable units
  • 6-packs 20% → 120 pieces ÷ 6 = 20 sellable units

How do you set an allocation ratio?

  1. Choose the product (Barcode) to allocate.
  2. Set the Pack Sizes, for example 1/3/6.
  3. Set a percentage for each Pack Size, for example 50%/30%/20%.
  4. Once you confirm, the system calculates the sellable quantity for each Pack Size.

What happens when stock comes in or the percentages change?

  • Each Pack Size maps to one listing.
  • When stock goes up or down, the system recalculates each listing's sellable quantity from the allocation ratio, so there is no need to adjust each listing every time stock comes in.
  • Changing the allocation percentages triggers a recalculation.
  • Orders already placed are not affected; only sellable quantities from then on change.
  • If no allocation is needed, set 100% for a single Pack Size, which is the same as having no allocation ratio.

How does RAID handle this?

RAID uses the Barcode to connect physical products with their listings on different platforms, and builds consumption by different Bundles into its replenishment suggestions, so the team manages stock and replenishment for every way of selling on the same basis.

Key points

  • An allocation ratio splits a batch of stock between Pack Sizes by percentage.
  • Sellable units = pieces allocated ÷ pieces per Pack Size.
  • 600 pieces allocated 50%/30%/20% give 300, 60 and 20 sellable units.
  • Quantities are recalculated from the allocation ratio when stock changes; orders already placed are not affected.
